Happy Holidays Are Not Always Possible

For most of us, Christmas is a time of joy – the celebration of the Saviour’s birth. That’s not the case for everyone, however. We were reminded of that on the evening of November 29th during a brief talk delivered at our annual benefit concert for the York Region Media Groups’ “Santa Fund North”. For the less fortunate, the Christmas season can be a source of great despair, and people can lose hope for the future.

Those facing economic hardships, sometimes magnified by physical or mental health issues, need extra support over the holiday season, and the Santa Fund North is able to provide that support through grocery cards and organizing the ‘adopt-a-family’ gift program with other donors in the community.

That’s why St. Paul’s runs the annual fundraising event, donating all profits to the Santa Fund North. The church also anonymously sponsors several families throughthe Santa Fund North gift program. Our hope is that we will be able to help those in need have some joy over Christmas, and have hope for the future. St. Paul’s continues to be a beacon of hope in the community.

So remember to keep your eyes open not just for the shopping deals but to what’s happening around you – it could be a neighbour or loved one who needs a little boost. Reach out over the Christmas Season with a gift of support to someone who you think needs some love and care.

Season’s Blessings to you and your loved ones.
